9:00 - 9:15 |
My mom drops
me off at preschool. I am sad to see her leave but I know she will
be back soon. I hang up my coat and school bag. My teacher says
that I can choose an activity from our special classroom shelf.
I pretend to be a doctor. My teacher shows me a stethoscope. When
I listen, I can hear my heart beating! |
9:15 - 9:30 |
We meet together on the carpet to look
for the new things around our classroom. I see a magnifying glass
at the science station. It makes everything look very big! |
9:30 - 10:00 |
We take turns learning with our teacher.
I trace new letters and learn their sounds. One, two, three, four,
five…I can count these buttons all by myself. |
10:00 - 10:15 |
We meet on the carpet and practice saying
the days of the week. My friend points to the name of the month
and we say it out loud together. My teacher reads a funny book about
pets. One of the puppies looks just like my dog at home! |
10:15 - 10:45 |
Now I choose the wooden beads. As I string
them on the shoelace, I can count each one just like I did with
my teacher! They look great as a necklace. I pick up all the beads
when I am done and put them back on their special shelf. We sing
a song as we put everything away. |
10:45 - 11:00 |
Now we wash our hands and get ready for
snack. My mom brought granola bars and orange slices. We talk about
our family pets. I tell everyone that my dog is brown and white. |
11:00 - 11:25 |
My teacher calls this “wiggle and
jiggle time.” We play duck-duck goose and I run so fast that
no one can catch me. |
11:25 - 11:30 |
Time to go. I say good bye when my mom
picks me up. I learned three new letters today and we read a book
about dogs. I had so much fun! |

At mary linsmeier schools and Children's Edu-Care, we
make the most of every moment with your child. Here is a sample of what
your child will experience during a day with us.
7:30 - 8:00 |
I arrive with
mom. I have to say good-bye, sometimes this is hard to do. But all
the kids are playing and I want to play too. My teacher says there
is something new (and gooey) on the sensory table. I think I will
go there first. |
8:00 - 8:30 |
After we cleanup
our toys we have circle time. We talk about the calendar and today
I got to look out the window and be the weather man. We always sing
songs at circle time. Sometimes we play games or read books. |
8:30 - 8:45 |
Breakfast. Yum…I
like it when we have pancakes and bananas. |
8:45 - 9:45 |
This is our class
time. We learn about colors, shapes, numbers and letters. My teacher
tells me the sounds that the letters make and she is helping me
count and know my numbers. We count all different things, little
bears, toy cars, once we even counted cheerios and then we ate them.
I choose a toy from our activity shelves. The shelves have so many
toys it is hard for me to choose one! My mom and dad really like
this time, they say I am getting ready for kindergarten. |
9:45 - 10:45 |
Now there is
an art project set up at the table and I can choose to do that or
I can choose to go to one of the other centers. Let me see if I
can name all the activities. There are a lot of choices. I am going
to paint first and then go to dramatic play. It is a grocery store
and it even has a cash register that works! |
10:45 - 11:30 |
Outside time.
Now I can run, climb, swing and dig. I can even be loud if I want
to. |
11:30 - 12:00 |
Lunch time is
really great. We get to serve ourselves. We pour our own milk from
small pitchers and put our food on our plates all by ourselves.
We talk about what we did over the weekend. After, it's time to
rest. |
12:00 - 2:30 |
Sometimes I have
trouble falling asleep. My teacher reads us a story, puts on music
and sometimes rubs my back. That really helps. When I wake up I
can play quietly at the tables until everyone else wakes up. My
teacher brings out special games and activities for this quiet time. |
2:30 - 2:45 |
Sometimes we
make our own snack. Once we made applesauce. Last week we made ants
on a log. In the car on the way home I told daddy that they were
real ants. Then I told him that I was just kidding! |
2:45 - 3:00 |
When I excuse myself from the table I can choose where I would like to play. Sometimes we play music games like duck-duck goose and Simon says. We like to dance to music and we really like to play instruments. Sometimes we can play them as loud as we like and sometimes we have to play them quietly or hold them still. |
3:00 - 4:00 |
We get to go outside again. Yesterday my teacher brought out the parachute and we danced with it and then we had to roll a ball on top. It was really hard to keep it from rolling off, but when it did my teacher helped us put the ball back on. |
4:00 |
My dad always picks me up at 4:00. When he gets here we have to take home all my projects and lessons from my cubby. On some days I have been very busy and daddy says there will never be enough room on the refrigerator and we will have to buy another one. When we get in the car I am going to teach daddy the new song I learned about mixing colors. My teacher says that on Monday the dramatic play center won't be a grocery store any more. She says it is a surprise what it will be. |
