![]() Learning is fun at mary linsmeier schools and Children’s
Edu-Care! Children experience and explore a variety of topics each day.
science
Our science topics are different every month. These
include subjects such as safety and fire prevention and include special
areas like trees, plants and astronomy. Children transition to various
activities with the use of finger plays and songs which often pertain
to the science topic, holidays of the month, or specific seasons throughout
the year. Our children have calendar time each day, where they say and
count the days of the week, learn about the days of the month, and the
months of the year. art skills
Our yearly plan includes a list of art topics from which
to choose. Teachers may choose a project that correlates with the science
topic of the month, music of the month, holidays and customs, or the season
of the year.
music
Music plays an important role in learning at mary linsmeier
schools. We learn many songs for special holidays and celebrations. Children
sing songs about months of the year, seasons, animals and much more! beginning spanish
Learning to speak Spanish begins in its simplest form.
We begin by learning basic greetings, numbers, and colors. Speaking
Spanish becomes a part of every day activities such as songs, finger
plays, fun games, and transition times. large & small motor development
During our large muscle activities children may use
parachutes, balls or large muscle equipment to play in a group, with
a friend, or by themselves. self-help skills
Every month new practical skills are taught, such
as learning to button, zip or wipe up spills. During our snack time
and meal time we promote proper manners and language skills through
discussion. sensorial skills
Children develop sensorial skills, such as identifying
shapes and colors, which are highlighted on our schedules and yearly
plan. circle time
During circle time children may discuss topics including
"Our families," "Why I am special," "What is
special about the fall," or perhaps "Our family pets."
dramatic play
Our dramatic play area changes throughout the year.
You may find dress-up clothes, shoes, or hats representing different
occupations such as firefighters, police officers, and construction
workers. You may also find equipment such as mailboxes, typewriters,
and other items that allow children to use their imagination in portraying
different characters.
